Pre-Interview Guide
The old adage “To fail to be prepared is to be prepared to fail” really is true when it comes to interviews. Thorough preparation really makes the difference and demonstrates your knowledge, and vitally important, your interest in joining a company. Whilst Absolute Recruitment will provide you with as many details as possible about your interview and the company that you are going to see, it’s really important that you do some background work yourself before the big day arrives.

- Research – Use the internet to find out as much about the company as you can, or if you don’t have access to the web, then use your local library facilities. Contact the company beforehand and ask them to send you some company literature so that you have something specific to read
- Practice makes Perfect – Know your CV and think about the types of questions that you are likely to be asked, as well as preparing a short list of questions for you to ask. Have a practice run, thinking about the questions and typical answers that you will respond with. Don’t make them “parrot fashion” though, you don’t want to sound scripted. Take a spare copy with you and read through it in case you are asked specific questions about it
- Dress to Succeed –It’s essential to make that first impression, so business dress is a must. No matter what the working dress code is, it’s better to get off to a great start, so be sensible about how you dress
- The Early Bird – Make sure you have the name and job title of the person you are meeting, and make sure that you know exactly where you are going and how to get there. Give yourself enough time to allow for traffic or getting lost and arrive 10 minutes early so that you have enough time to take in your surroundings, relax and compose yourself
